A brief encounter with a past love was all it took to ruin a potentially good day.During our brief encounter, we had shared a quick embrace, a an short update on one another's lives, a promise of a friendly coffee, and another quick embrace. The ex was a man I had dated in the past for four long years, he made me so happy. I had convinced myself that we would marry and spend the rest of our lives together.
Our break up was a shock to me, and had me crying in bed for days. I had thought my heart was going to break and it took allot of close and personal friends to get me up and out of bed. They had stuck by my side from day one of the split and were doing there hardest to help me mourn the loss of my relationship and get back on the dating horse.
After weeks of unbearable loneliness, I was ready to start over. I remember wanting to completely erase him from my mind and thoughts. So I had gathered a few girlfriends, and together we strategized my plan to return to single life. We decided to sign up for a couple of dating services and have a complete makeover and spa day.
The spa day had concluded with new clothes, new shoes, two very overpriced purses, drinks, and a viewing of the brand new American Idol. It was during Idol, when all of a sudden I had gotten a very unexpected phone call from a coworker who had heard of my recent break up. We had talked throughoutthe rest of idol, he had asked how I was and if he could do anything to help. I had said no, an made up an excuse to get off the phone.
The following weekend I had had a brief encounter with that exact co worker while having coffee at the local Starbucks. He greeted me with an embrace and I had invited him to join me. We had coffee and talked for hours. Afterwards whenI had to get going he had asked me to dinner and I said yes.
